ABOUT

WE recognize the resiliency of people who use drugs and work in collaboration to create access points for overdose prevention and harm reduction services in Maine

Maine Access Points (MAP) is a nonprofit organization providing safer use supplies, overdose prevention education and naloxone distribution, drug checking, peer support, and advocacy throughout rural Maine. We are preparing to launch a clinical services program in 2027.

We leverage networks of community distribution and collective organizing to meet Mainers who use drugs where they’re at. We believe that reducing the stigma surrounding drug use creates safer communities for all and has the potential to end the overdose crisis.

MAP works with Mainers who use drugs, their families, friends, and loved ones to create a supportive environment where healing is possible. We believe that every overdose death is preventable.

Our extensive network of community partners enables us to connect our participants with social services, SUD treatment, medical care, and financial assistance.

OUR GOALS

01. Reduce overdose deaths by making naloxone accessible to everyone in Maine

02. Provide aftercare and support for people who use drugs, people who reverse overdoses, and anyone experiencing grief or losS

03. Create accessible Syringe Service Programs throughout rural Maine

04. Form networks of community care and advocacy that are strong enough to end the war on drug users and change our drug policies
